MAGGI Reaches 19,670 Women Across Five South-East States

MAGGI has expanded its August Meeting engagement across South-East Nigeria, reaching 19,670 women across five states through partnerships with 30 women’s associations and five market activations.

The 2026 programme more than doubled participation from the previous year, making it MAGGI’s largest August Meeting engagement to date.

The scale of the activation reflects the importance of the August Meeting tradition as a point of connection for women across the region, while giving the brand an opportunity to engage communities in settings where the occasion already carries strong cultural and social relevance.

Building the Brand Around the Occasion

Following the women’s meetings, MAGGI hosted receptions that brought together cooking competitions, music and entertainment, alongside appearances from Ruby Ojiakor, Blessing Obasi and Blessing Onwukwe. All three women are from the South-East and have their own connections to the culture and experience of August Meeting.

The choice of setting and talent helped keep the engagement connected to the communities it was designed for, rather than treating the occasion simply as another promotional platform. The receptions extended the meetings into broader experiences where food, entertainment and participation could come together around an established cultural moment.

Food remained at the centre of the programme. Culinary sessions demonstrated fresh and creative approaches to preparing familiar meals, while cooking competitions gave participants an opportunity to showcase their own skills and recipes.

The approach allowed MAGGI to connect its products with something more familiar and relevant than a conventional product demonstration. Cooking is already central to household life and community gatherings, making food a natural entry point for the brand to participate in the occasion.

Adding Practical Value to Community Engagement

The programme also incorporated nutrition education, with sessions focused on making healthier choices within household budgets. Participants received guidance on building balanced diets, understanding the importance of micronutrients such as iron, and planning family meals more effectively.

The sessions also addressed how fortified foods can form part of a varied diet, including MAGGI products fortified with iron. This gave the brand an opportunity to connect product education with broader conversations around household nutrition rather than focusing only on consumption.

For MAGGI, the significance of the August Meeting activation therefore extends beyond the number of people reached. The programme places the brand within an existing cultural gathering and builds the experience around activities that are already relevant to the women participating, from cooking and community interaction to household nutrition.

The result is an activation model that combines cultural participation with practical value. By working through 30 women’s associations, five market activations and community-based meetings across five South-East states, MAGGI has used the August Meeting season as a platform for sustained engagement rather than a single promotional event.
