Apple announced on September 15, 2026, that its iCloud+ subscription in Nigeria would now include Apple TV, Apple Arcade, and Apple Music Select at no additional cost.
The rollout is part of Apple's expansion of the enhanced iCloud+ service to more than 100 countries and regions, adding Apple TV to 59 new markets and bringing the streaming service's global footprint to 170 countries.
Nigeria is one of those 59.Apple TV launched globally in November 2019. It has taken nearly seven years to arrive in Nigeria. That gap tells a story about the pace at which major streaming and technology services have historically prioritised African markets, and the Apple announcement arrives in a Nigerian streaming landscape that has changed significantly since 2019.
Showmax shut down its standalone service in April 2026, with MultiChoice moving its streaming offering to DStv Stream. Netflix remains the dominant subscription streaming service in the country. Apple is entering a different market from the one it might have entered in 2020.
What the Bundle Actually Includes
Nigerian iCloud+ subscribers will receive Apple TV, Apple Arcade, and Apple Music Select as part of their existing paid plans at no additional charge. The starting price remains ₦1,300 per month for the 50 gigabyte plan, with higher storage tiers also available.
Apple TV in Nigeria includes access to Apple's library of original productions: Severance, Ted Lasso, The Studio, Pluribus, Academy Award-winning film CODA, and other titles.
The availability of live sports content including Formula 1, Major League Soccer, and Friday Night Baseball for Nigerian subscribers has not been confirmed by Apple at the time of this report. Apple TV works across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Android devices, supported smart televisions, gaming consoles, streaming devices, and web browsers.
Apple Arcade provides unlimited access to more than 200 games with no advertising and no in-app purchases. Games in the catalogue include Football Manager 26 Touch, NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition, Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, and Angry Birds Reloaded. Games can be played offline and across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV 4K. Existing game progress and saved data are preserved for users who were previously on standalone Apple Arcade subscriptions.
Apple Music Select adds curated, advertising-free stations programmed by Apple Music, covering regional music, top songs, and selections from the 1980s and 1990s. This is a lighter offering than a full Apple Music subscription, which costs ₦1,500 per month for individuals and ₦2,500 for families.
Family Sharing allows iCloud+ subscribers to share their plan with up to five family members, meaning a ₦1,300 monthly plan can potentially cover streaming, gaming, music stations, and cloud storage for an entire household.
What the Bundling Strategy Means
Apple is not launching Apple TV in Nigeria as a standalone streaming service competing directly with Netflix on its own terms. Apple TV and Apple Arcade will no longer be available as separate subscriptions in Nigeria.
The only route to Apple TV in Nigeria is through a paid iCloud+ plan. Subscribers who previously had standalone Apple TV or Apple Arcade plans will have those cancelled and will continue to access the services through iCloud+.
That bundling approach reflects Apple's broader services strategy. The company has been steadily moving toward building an ecosystem of services that reinforce each other and increase the value of staying inside the Apple device and software environment.
A Nigerian iPhone or iPad user who pays for iCloud+ storage gets streaming, gaming, and curated music stations included in the same subscription.
Each of those services becomes a reason to stay on the plan rather than cancelling it, and each of them deepens the consumer's relationship with Apple's ecosystem rather than requiring them to build separate relationships with separate platforms.
The practical competitive implication is that Apple is not primarily targeting Netflix subscribers with this announcement. It is targeting its own existing iCloud+ subscribers and Apple device users who were not previously paying for Apple TV.
The consumer gets more for the same price. Apple gets streaming users who came through an infrastructure subscription rather than a streaming pitch.
Apple said the expanded iCloud+ offering will roll out in Nigeria before the end of September 2026.
