GTCO Fashion Weekend Returns November 7 With New Fashion Collective

Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) will host the ninth edition of its Fashion Weekend on November 7 and 8, 2026, in Lagos, introducing a new year-round platform designed to keep the fashion community connected beyond the annual event.

The event will take place at the GTCentre, Oniru, Lagos, under the theme “Fashion Is Timeless.” GTCO also unveiled the GTCO Fashion Collective, which aims to sustain engagement among designers, fashion entrepreneurs and other industry participants throughout the year.

What GTCO Has Planned

The two-day event will run from 10am to 10pm each day, with free entry for the public. GTCO says this year's edition will celebrate fashion as a lasting expression of creativity, culture and identity while reinforcing its commitment to enterprise development and Africa's fashion industry.

The event has grown steadily since its debut in 2016. Its eighth edition, held on November 8 and 9, 2025, featured collections from designers including Ituen Basi, The Bam Collective, Sevon Dejana, Mmuso Maxwell, Mowalola and Priya Ahluwalia.

In 2022, the event returned after a two-year break, with more than 120 small and medium-sized enterprises displaying their products.

GTCO positions Fashion Weekend as both a consumer-focused fashion fair and a business platform. It provides African designers and fashion businesses with an opportunity to showcase their work, reach customers and gain exposure to wider audiences.

The organisers have not yet announced the designers, exhibitors or speakers for the 2026 edition. Further details are expected as the event approaches.

Why the Fashion Collective Matters

Fashion Weekend provides designers and small businesses with two days of concentrated exposure. However, fashion businesses operate throughout the year, managing production, marketing, sales and the challenges of securing finance, materials and customers.

The GTCO Fashion Collective is intended to address that gap by keeping members of the fashion community connected beyond the annual event. In principle, it could provide opportunities for designers, makers and buyers to exchange ideas, establish partnerships and maintain visibility.

Its eventual value will depend on how the platform is structured. GTCO has not yet disclosed its membership criteria, proposed activities, member benefits or operating model. These details will determine whether the Collective becomes a useful industry resource or remains an extension of the annual event.

The initiative also fits into GTCO's wider approach to supporting enterprise through public-facing platforms. Its Food and Drink Festival, which held its ninth edition in May 2026, provided 204 free retail stalls and merchant loans of up to ₦30 million for vendors.

Combining public events with opportunities for small businesses has become an important part of how GTCO engages entrepreneurs and builds its brand beyond banking.

For designers and fashion businesses, Fashion Weekend offers access to visitors and potential customers without an entry fee for the public. A functioning year-round platform could provide additional opportunities for visibility, collaboration and business development.

Visitors also benefit from free access to the event, where they can discover collections, shop from local brands and interact with designers and other fashion entrepreneurs.

For GTCO, the Fashion Collective provides an opportunity to maintain relationships with entrepreneurs between its major events. Consistent engagement with business owners can strengthen the group's association with enterprise development and support its broader brand positioning.

The Challenge Is Sustaining the Value

The success of the Fashion Collective will depend on its execution. It needs clear membership benefits, regular activities and measurable outcomes that demonstrate value to participants.

The quality of the platform will also matter. Designers and businesses need a reason to remain involved, whether through access to potential customers, industry connections, business resources or opportunities to showcase their work.

The ninth Fashion Weekend will provide an early indication of the event's continued appeal. The designer line-up, number of participating businesses, visitor turnout and details of the new Collective will help show how GTCO intends to develop the platform.

Ultimately, the opportunity lies in making Fashion Weekend a meaningful part of Africa's fashion business ecosystem throughout the year, rather than an annual gathering that loses momentum once the event closes.
