A senior legal executive within the UAC of Nigeria Plc Group has taken on a new, broader role at one of the group's subsidiaries. Aramide Nwokediuko has joined CHI Limited as Director, Corporate Communications and External Public Affairs and General Counsel, after stepping away from her previous post as Company Secretary, General Counsel and Head of Corporate Services at Chemical and Allied Products Plc.
Her exit from CAP Plc became official following the company's 61st Annual General Meeting on June 24, 2026, and the move reflects a pattern within UAC Group of shifting experienced leaders between its operating companies rather than always hiring externally for senior roles.
What makes Nwokediuko's new position notable is its scope. At CHI Limited, she will hold responsibility for corporate communications, external public affairs, legal services and corporate governance all under one remit, a structure that signals how closely UAC Group wants legal oversight and public-facing communications to work together going forward.
Her background supports the expanded mandate. Nwokediuko has spent more than 14 years working in corporate law, governance and compliance across sectors including manufacturing, automotive, FMCG, healthcare and technology, advising organisations on high-profile transactions and governance issues throughout her career. Before CAP Plc, she held the role of Group Company Secretary, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at CFAO Nigeria, overseeing legal and compliance functions spanning that group's automotive, healthcare and distribution businesses. Earlier still, she spent close to 12 years at Banwo and Ighodalo, one of Nigeria's leading commercial law firms, working on corporate and commercial transactions.
Colleagues and past employers have pointed to her ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex regulatory environments, alongside a track record of building governance and compliance frameworks that hold up under scrutiny. That combination of legal rigour and team leadership appears to be exactly what CHI Limited is betting on as it consolidates communications and legal functions under one executive.
Academically, Nwokediuko studied Law at the University of Lagos before completing the Nigerian Law School programme, and she has since added executive education from the Said Business School at the University of Oxford to her credentials, giving her exposure to international business thinking alongside her Nigerian legal training.
For CHI Limited specifically, bringing in someone with this legal and governance depth into a role that also covers public affairs and communications suggests the company wants a single point of coordination when legal and reputational issues intersect, a increasingly common need as companies face scrutiny from regulators, media and the public simultaneously rather than one at a time.
Whether this combined structure becomes a model other UAC Group subsidiaries adopt will likely depend on how effectively Nwokediuko manages the dual mandate in her new role.
